Bio
A tiefling ranger bound by a forest pact older than most kingdoms. Raised by the mysterious Vaelor Ashholt, Rowen now runs Timberfell Yards in Neverwinter—cutting only what the wilds permit, and honoring an oath carved into bark and bone.
Rowen Timberfell’s first memories of the forest were not of birdsong or dawnlight, but fire. Born in a logging camp skirting the Reaching Woods, his infernal blood made him an omen before he could speak. When a lantern accident turned the camp into a roaring pyre, Rowen walked toward the flames without fear—until a horned silhouette stepped through the blaze and changed his fate. The figure was not a demon, but Master Vaelor Ashholt, an elder tiefling ranger who patrolled the boundaries between the civilized and the wild. Vaelor took the child away from the smoldering ruins and raised him beneath the canopy, teaching him to track, to choose trees with reverence, and to understand the covenant between axe and woodland. Their pact was simple: “Take only what’s needed. Guard what remains. Break this, and the woods will break you.” When Vaelor vanished near Neverwinter Wood, Rowen followed the trail north. He found no body—only Vaelor’s axe, gently grown into an ancient oak, as if the forest itself had claimed him. Rowen settled in Neverwinter soon after, founding Timberfell Yards: a lumberyard that harvests selectively, replants obsessively, and refuses contracts from those who treat the wilds as fuel rather than kin. Most see a tiefling making coin from timber. The forest knows better: Rowen is honoring a vow older than the scar on his soul.
